Notes on dating, attribution, imagery, or markings

The two registers of calligraphic ornament in Kufic (Arabic) circling around the body of the vessel are about prosperity and happiness (Darkevich 1976: 30); the small inscription on the handle reads, “Eat and drink to your health,” (Marshak 1976: 166).
